Mandarin is native to China. It was brought to Europe in 1805 and then to the United States approximately 40 years later.
The essential oil is extracted from the fresh outer peel of the fruit by cold compression. The aroma is an intense, fresh, tangy and sweet citrus scent.
The Mandarin tree is a small evergreen that grows up to 20 feet high. It small orange like fruit with glossy leaves and fragrant flowers.
The fruit of the Mandarin tree was a traditionally gifted to the Mandarins, hence the name.
